The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will finally release this May

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, produced by Daedalic Entertainment and Navon, has a new release date. The unique Lord of the Rings game now has a May 25 release date after a few delays. This information was released together with a new story teaser for the game, which teases the people and creatures the main character will meet while on their quest, including Gandalf and a Sauron emissary.

This game will provide us a more in-depth look at Gollum’s perspective on the events of the Lord of the Rings epic than we have seen before, and it will look and play very differently than any other Lord of the Rings game that has come before it. Fighting is less of a focus in this game; instead, players will be climbing about familiar Lord of the Rings locations, eliminating opponents in their path covertly, and making numerous decisions between what Gollum and Sméagol want to do.

The release date for The Lord of the Rings: Gollum was once set for 2021. It was postponed to 2022 rather than being released that year. Just over a month before the scheduled launch date of September 1, 2022, Daedalic Entertainment postponed it indefinitely so the programmers could provide “the finest possible experience.” Although they claimed the delay would only be “by a few months” at a time, by the time it releases, fans will have had to wait about nine months longer.

The Lord of the Rings: Gollum will be available on May 25 for the Xbox One, PS4, PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. A Nintendo Switch version is also being worked on, but its release date is still listed as “later this year.”
